Later on, Shiva and Sati are blessed with a boy Kartik, and the whole Kaashi celebrates the birth of Neelkanth’s child. Shiva visits the famous Kaashi Vishwanath temple and comes into contact with another Vasudev Pandit, but this time he got some clarity about his mission with their conversation. But Sati was worried, what if this child also happens to be stillborn.īut she was relieved by Shiva being on her side. Sati’s concernĪs Sati’s delivery date drew nearer, Shiva became more excited and Daksha himself arrives at Kaashi to see his grandchild out of excitement. With this conversation, Bhrigu’s roles become more mysterious. Some mysterious conversation takes place between the two of them and Bhrigu gives a warning to Daksha regarding the Neelkanth. On the other hand, Maharishi Bhrigu, the successor of Sapta Rishis visited Daksha. Shiva concludes that he has to go to the land of Brangas to know the whole truth. He summons Divodas and enquires him about the Nagas. Shiva came to know that the medicine was from the land of the Nagas. Then came Divodas, leader of the Branga community living in Kashi, he gave some mysterious medicine which saved Parvateshwar’s life. Parvateshwar was such a warrior who was considered to be a living mountain in himself, so Shiva didn’t want to lose his General. Parvateshwar (Meluhan General) got seriously injured during the breaking of a riot and there seemed to be no way to saving his life. Shiva came to know more about his predecessor Neelkanth, Lord Rudra in Kaashi and realized that Rudra too was gone through a similar situation he was into. On reaching the Kaashi, Shiva was surprised that there was no fortified arrangement in such an important city, later he came to know the history of Kashi and got his answer. He also came in contact with the prince of Magadh Surpadaman, whom Shiva considered as an ally. Shiva asked him the questions which were troubling him for a long time.īut this conversation left him even more confused about what is the real evil. Shiva’s convoy stopped in Magadh for a few days and Shiva came into contact with another Vasudev Pandit. The mysterious Naga kept chasing Sati everywhere she went.During this journey, a soft side of the mysterious Naga is revealed as he saved a child and mother from being murdered. In the end, confused Shiva decides to visit the holy city of Kaashi. Later on, when Shiva asks Daksha ( the Suryavanshi King) and Dilipa (the Chandravanshi King) more about the Nagas, he was told that allegedly they could have an alliance with the land of Brangas. But the Naga took both of them head-on and was able to escape leaving Shiva and Sati injured and impressed by his martial skills. Shiva warned Sati and both of them chased down the Naga and fought with him intensely. The Secret of The Nagas picks up just from there. The Immortals of Melhua ended with the cliffhanger when The mysterious Naga was about to attack Sati. Here is the summary of a part of the plot of The Secret of The Nagas. In the fictitious world of Amish, the Nagas were the members of an ostracised community who were born with physical deformities. The first thing that comes to the mind of an Indian when he reads the title of the book, The Secret of The Nagas is that it will be about snakes. Then begins his journey to discover what is really evil because as being the legendary Neelkanth, he was supposed to do so. Shiva has led the Suryavanshis to the victory over the Chandravanshis and has been married happily to the princess of Meluha, Sati.īut later on, he realizes that it is not Chandravanshis who are evil, it was just a matter of perspective. Its a good book and definitely worth a read for fantasy lovers. The Secret of The Nagas picks up just from where its predecessor ‘ The Immortals of Meluha‘ left. You can actually believe all this is had really happened in the past but has been forgotten. I really liked the writing style and the story. Even with no knowledge of any myths, you can understand the book pretty well. I’m glad to say I was proved wrong and didn’t waste my time – to some extent (There were many mythology references, but I could understand most of them). I thought I would be a typical Hindu mythology/ religious/ cliché kind of story. Rating: To be honest, I was really skeptical about reading the book. Shiva, a tribal leader, must take up his role as the savior of the almost perfect city of Meluha and fight his way through love, courage and responsibility. Genre: Fiction, Fantasy, Indian MythologyĪccording to an ancient prophecy, the Neelkanth (the one with the blue throat) will save Meluha from evil.
